PISCATAWAY PARK

The Piscataway Greenway System is an ambitious project traversing a 22-mile section of a local municipality. The project culminates on the shoreline of the Potomac River, where proposed designs engage visitors at two different sites.

The first site, “Half Moon Boardwalk,” offers experiences with local ecology along aquatic and terrestrial trail systems. The second site, “Dock View,” upgrades existing dock infrastructure, offering river views and a ferry connection across the Potomac River to George Washington’s Mt. Vernon, while preserving the character of the viewshed. The site is important to local indigenous groups, and the design was inspired by the “Three Sisters” agriculture concept common to many tribal nations.
